Facts:
Doshisha University was founded in 1875 by Joseph Hardy Neesima (Jo Niijima) who was one of the six great educators of the Meiji era. Upholding the three educational principles of Liberalism, Internationalism and Christian Principles, our students are encouraged to nurture a sense of freedom, independence and conscience. As one of the prominent private universities in Japan, Doshisha University continues to develop as an international hub of higher education and research. The International Science and Technology Course (ISTC) (http://istc.doshisha.ac.jp/en/) started from September 2010 as a pilot program for students coming to Doshisha from partner universities under the Double Degree Program. After April 2011, students from any university are eligible to apply. The most advanced science and engineering subjects coupled with courses introducing the Japanese way of managing R&D and Japanese company culture are taught in English to cultivate talents to be a leader of international projects.
