Facts:
Yokohama National University, located in the historically international city of Yokohama, was established in 1949 with a history of its original foundation in 1876 as a normal school. Today, it comprises 5 Undergraduate Colleges (Education, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering Science, and Urban Sciences) and 5 Graduate Schools (Education, International Social Sciences, Engineering, Environment and Information Sciences, and Urban Innovation). It has developed into a university with about 1,000 staff and faculty and 10,000 students. Based on sixty years of history and tradition, YNU is highly internationalized, as it respects and strives to respond to the needs of society across the globe by integrating multi-disciplinary and cross-border knowledge. The university is determined to provide practical knowledge to its students and to administer research and education with the aim of becoming a university that is more accessible to society and eagerly welcomes new challenges. YNU has concluded International Exchange Agreements with 137 universities and institutions in 42 countries and regions including members of the T.I.M.E. Association. There are approximately 1,000 international students from 70 countries and regions that are enrolled at YNU.
